Members strongly related to experiencing rapid mood swings with fibromyalgia, describing intense emotional cycles that shift from happiness to anger to sadness within minutes, often feeling powerless to control them despite being aware they're happening. Several members shared practical strategies including consulting with doctors about medication side effects or bipolar disorder, trying supplements like 5-HTP, switching to non-toxic hygiene products to reduce chemical exposure, and limiting social interactions during difficult mood days. A recurring theme was the guilt and strain these mood swings place on relationships with family members who struggle to understand the unpredictability of both physical pain and emotional shifts.

I realize these mood swings are part of Fibro but have you also been checked out for BiPolar !. I have both conditions and I just went from Mania which for me is extreme anger, violence, aggression, moodiness to depression where I am crying and not verbalizing. It is called rapid cycling. Just a thought?

Yes. Mostly sad, I have to tell my children , please don't touch mommy she hurts. No energy to do what I want. Frustration, feelings of uselessness. But I need bi-lateral knee surgery too, so that doesn't help. I'm fat and have to loose a few pounds to get the surgery . Drs. don't understand the catch 22 I am in.

I get the same thing, one moment I am going great the next I feel as though I need to kill something! It can be such an intense emotion, the cycle usually goes; Happy, Furious, Depressed, Sobbing, and then happy again. all to the extreme.

Are you on medication that could cause mood swings? Are you depressed? Might be a good time to consult with your doctor.
