Members shared diverse experiences about which climates work best for managing fibromyalgia symptoms, with warm, dry locations like Arizona and Southern California emerging as popular choices for reducing pain, improving mood, and minimizing flares triggered by barometric pressure changes. Several members described dramatic improvements after moving from cold, damp regions like the Pacific Northwest to sunny desert climates, noting reduced aches, increased energy, and better mental health. A recurring theme was that climate preferences vary by individual, and while no location is perfect for everyone, stability in weather patterns and warmth tend to offer the most relief.

I lived in Portland, Oregon most of my life. The weather there had a drastic negative affect on my health, especially my aches and pains. Until my husband retired I did not have any other alternatives than during his vacation times. One vacation we went to Arizona. After a few days I began feeling much better. The aches and pains were better, my mood improved drastically, and I became much more active, even getting out for walking frequently. There was such a profound difference that when my husband retired a few years later, we bought a house in Tucson in Southern Arizona. I love it here. Leaving after 45 years of living in Oregon was hard. Children and grandchildren live there. It is so important for me to get involved in a community and make friends here. Fibromyalgia causes isolation from others by its very nature. I can get very depressed if I am alone a lot. So, luckily, I found a wonderful church and have become very active in that. I have made lots of new friends and the sun shining and warm, dry weather year round has changed my life dramatically. For me, the dry warm climate is where I feel best.

I've lived in California all my life. I can't imagine living anywhere else. The cost of living is high, the traffic can be bad and then there is the pollution. Sounds terrible, but the weather is great. Warm and warmer.
