Probably TMJ. temporal mandibular joint. I've had it off and on for years. Went to P.T. who specialized in it. She gave me a few pointers. But I have learned that the worst thing I do to aggravate it is chewing on the inside skin of my mouth. It's a nervous habit but it puts your jaw at a bad angle. Also, sleeping on my side I try to make sure my jaw does not drop (the side that's on the lower side). I prop it up a little with my feather pillow. Then, put the tip of my tongue behind my front top teeth and just relax the whole jaw. If it is not right, it will grind as it is falling. Does that make sense? Not chewing gum is good too. But I have dry mouth (Sjogren's) so I now use a half piece of gum. Otherwise my mouth is spitting cotton and I can't talk.
Hope this helps. Yes, it can make your ear hurt also. I've had it on both sides. At least 30 years of this, the pain is nothing to take lightly in my book. God bless you.
I'm guessing tmj too. Another symptom for us fibro folk :)
Or again as with most things... check your meds leaflet.
Bless I know how you feel.
Citalopram will help. I was on that before fibro and at the start but had a change of meds. Now I have Duloxetine which helps anxiety attacks and depression the same as Citalopram.
Did he say anything about your jaw pain ?
Hi Andy
Hope it went okay at the drs... sending hugs x
Hi Andy..good luck at your appt.
I'm so very sure that myofacial pain whether jaw, ears, sinus, headaches etc are all related to fibro. Because it has so many umbrella issues they probably can't pinpoint it or blame it on fibro but we all know too well that these "side" illnesses are all related.
Get it checked out and it's best to be cautious. I have never had such jaw problems until I started getting sick. I have constant jaw ache, tinnitus, sinus problems etc and I know many people that have the same issues. It's worrisome and bothersome.
Big hugs across the pond.
