Energy? Tired!
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone know of a vitamin or something that will help in the mornings when after being up for an hour I can hardly keep my eyes open I'm that tired.

Just thought I would mention that I'm taking these multi vitamin packs and supplements prescribed by a protocol in the book "Treating and Beating Fibromyalgia & CFS" by Dr. Rodger Murphree. You can go to his website and check out his store for his FMS/CFS jumpstart kit. I take a bunch of other supplements prescribed by a naturopathic doctor that I see, and found out that my brain fog could be partially responsible for the lack of Vit B5 (Pantothetic Acid) & B6 (Thiamine), as was indicated in my blood panel. Also, make sure you're taking digestive enzymes and a good probiotic, and stay away from processed foods, and refined sugars. I notice that the healthier I eat, the better I feel. Easier said than done, and we all fall off the wagon now and then, but I notice a huge difference. A healthy gut also promotes a healthier immune system. Just want to share what's worked for me.

I realize that for most of you, taking all these prescription drugs may seem like the answer, but believe me when I say that the long term affects will eventually catch up with you. I hope you all consider reading "Treating and Beating FMS/CFS" by Dr Rodger Murphree. This book, and his online videos, were life savers for me. The last drug (Savella) my GP put me on back in 2011 practically killed me. That's when the light bulb went off for me, and I realized that I needed to find a healthier way to deal with my fibro. Now I only see my GP once a year for my annual physical. He's amazed at how much healthier I look. He's aware that I'm seeing a naturopathic, and I always have a copy of the lab work that I have done periodically, sent to my GP's office for my file. He knows that the route I've taken is better for me, but our conventional doctors are not trained in this field. He also told me that he knows that the naturopathic center that I go to is doing great at actually healing people. I believe that if I hadn't been on all those drugs for all those years, that my fibro could have been reversed. My daily regimen of vitamins/supplements, and avoiding processed foods, refined sugars (http://www.mnn.com/food/healthy-eating/blogs/12...), and avoiding as many toxins as you can in our toiletries (read here: http://www.cwhn.ca/en/node/39367) - seems like alot of change, but it's made a difference in my health, and the results of my lab work indicates improvement. Our bodies are fine machines that need the correct super fuel to survive. All I can say is start reading and learning. If your doctor is resistant to what you've learned, and does not cooperate with you, then find another doctor. Be your own health care advocate, and stand up for yourself.

Makes me happy to see that others have doctors that are prescribing healthy alternatives. I did all the drugs for 7-8 years, and since switching over to alternative medicine and weaning off all of the drugs I was on (Cymbalta, Savella, Loritab, flexeril, mobic, etc.), and slowly allowing my body to heal by giving it the vitamins, supplements and nutrients that is was very deprived of, I have experienced remarkable improvements in my health. It doesn't happen over night, but I feel better knowing that my body is getting the super fuel it needs to better function.

Wish I could help! Coffee helps a bit, and then I have a shower. I do feel more alert after my shower, and it relieves the muscle pain some.

Thanks for the information. Ive always wondered about getting off all these meds. Before I had kids I wasn't on anything and now 17 years later I'm on a handful and seems every year or so another one gets added for some issue I have going on.
