Members overwhelmingly shared that Lyrica caused significant weight gain, with many reporting 20 to 50 pounds gained in a matter of months, often concentrated in the belly area and accompanied by swelling that several members believed was water retention. The most frequently mentioned solution was switching medications, with Cymbalta and Gabapentin being the two most commonly recommended alternatives that helped members lose the weight they had gained without the same side effects. A recurring theme was frustration with doctors prescribing weight-gaining medications while simultaneously criticizing patients for weight gain, balanced by encouragement to wean off Lyrica slowly, eat smaller frequent meals to boost metabolism, and trust that much of the weight would come off naturally once off the medication.

Thank you all!! I am off the Lyrica and on Cymbalta instead. It works very well and I have been able to increase my activities. I also found a probiotic that aids in weight loss and it's working. I'm down 23 lbs. Thank God!! I have to say Lyrica helped tremendously, but the weight gain made everything else much worse!

Well I am sorry that all of you are having problems with lyric but for me it has been a big help, and I am not gaining or losing and for that I am grateful

Hang in there, sometimes there is not a good "workaround" to deal with side effects that doesn't cause more issues and a whole new problem. I think you are definitely on the right track, I couod not stand the lyrica and was only on it for a couple of days before my face and hands started swelling and my brain went on vacation. Not good. After deciding not to take it, I was unswollen in about 12 hours. I know side effects are often different for everyone but I'm not seeing a lot of positive feedback on lyrica. Good luck!

Oooh where do we start, I was fine the first year, now I am 3 stone heavier. I am so sick of my body as it's sitting in my belly but my jeans started falling of a month ago. So where is the wait coming from. I have pain in my hips and walking is painful.

I learnt lymph problems causing swelling therefore not flushing toxins. If you find a solution let me know

Hi Marthafay. Actually Cymbalta is working better than the Lyrica ever did. I still have brain fog - but not quite as bad. I haven't seen any side effects like I did with the Lyrica either. I started on Cymbalta about 7-8 months ago - if memory serves me correctly. Good luck!!
