Has anyone ever had Serotonin Syndrome? Most of the Fibro Meds seem to have an affect on Serotonin, and I take 3 of them right now. My Pharmacist told me that it usually involves sweating, fever and diarrhea but I've also read muscle rigidity which I'm assuming is muscle pain. How would we know if we had it when Fibro involves so much muscle pain?
Serotonin syndrome symptoms are high fever, muse rigidity Agitation or restlessness Confusion Rapid heart rate and high blood pressure Dilated pupils Loss of muscle coordination or twitching muscles Muscle rigidity heavy sweating Diarrhea Headache Shivering Goose bumps
My mother is going to docs today. I read tremors and shakes can also occur. How do we know when enough is enough medicine and/or a change. I don't understand how they measure this. It all seems so hit or miss. It is not right and the term hypochondriac is often rallied about. :(
Very few people get serotonin syndrome. Usually there is a fever associated and it is way worse than fibro, you end up in the ER. I am an NP and I have had 1 patient in 27 years of practice develop it.
I've always wondered that myself. One dr told me that's what it was and two others said it wasn't. It s hard to decipher with all the side affects and fibro symptoms.
My Rheumatologist told me the same thing. Have my GP treat me. I was hoping for a Fibro specialist.
