I have always had A LOT of hair. I used to wish i had less of it. you know what they say ... be careful what you wish for. i'm guesstimating 50% hair loss. thankfully because I started out with so much, it hasn't reached crisis level yet, but if it continues disappearing at this rate, that could soon change.
I've been losing my hair too. I have a lot of hair as well, but it comes out in clumps when I wash and dry it. It's normal to lose some hair, but I've noticed I'm losing more than I used to and I'm worried that it might stop growing back.
Mine falls out after the shower and a handful in comb, shower drain and yes vacuum, I am also very sick, something other than fibro, elevated calcium in blood being pulled from bones, I keep telling them something is WRONG. This is not fibro. The only thing I can find is parathyroidism. That is what they are looking into as well but not in any hurry. The bone pain is awful and am now house bound at 47 ys old. I feel as I am dying, NOT trying to be dramatic,,,but I do, New doc said rest, drink water and retest in 2 weeks and have ultrasound then refer to endoctinologist...which first opening is 3 months out. Not everything is fibro related but seems like they treat ya that way till they have some sort of proof!! Hope that if someone else knows anything about parathyroidism they will let me know. Hope this new year finds less pain for all!!
chimama - mine doesn't necessarily fall in chunks, per se ... the first time I noticed I really had a problem was when it more or less seized up my vacuum beater bar... I vacuum everyday and clean the vacuum itself at least once a week (yes, I tend to be a bit on neat-freak side) .. so when these clogs all of a sudden started happening, I couldn't kid myself any longer. my hairdresser was sweet enough to give me a 60-day sample of Rogaine for Women, but to be honest, i'm afraid to try it ... it seems like with this whole fibro thing, if something can go wrong ... it does...
McD - my thyroid was one of the first things they got squared away; although, truth be told, with everything else going on, it was more or less a drop in the bucket.
I was told it's alapecia universal. I have lost everything, eye brows, lashes, body and head hair.
