Cymbalta keeps me awake for days and days on end. I may sleep 2 or 3 hours a night or not at all. I guess it's back to the doctor for help. Had to be taken off sleep med. I was acting weird. And it wasn't working anyway. Maybe a for a night or so, then I'm back at staying up all night

Members rallied around someone struggling with insomnia caused by Cymbalta, sharing the surprising reality that the same medication affects people completely differently, with some experiencing extreme sleepiness while others couldn't sleep at all. Several members offered practical alternatives that have worked for them, including low-dose amitriptyline for sleep and restless legs, trazodone for long-term restorative rest, doxepin for deep sleep when 8-9 hours can be dedicated, melatonin as a gentler option, and muscle relaxers like Flexeril to prevent nighttime cramping. A recurring theme was the critical importance of addressing sleep issues directly with a doctor, as restorative sleep is essential for managing chronic pain, and any medication that disrupts it may ultimately do more harm than good.

The Cymbalta doesn't seem to effect my sleep, but I also take Flexeril (muscle relaxer) 1 to 1 1/2-5mg at night. It helps me sleep & keeps my legs from cramping.

Another great sleeping medication is called doxepin. Beware you must be able to dedicate at least 8-9hrs of sleep with this med because it is very hard to shake but you will get a good nights rest although non of us really know what that is....but this will help

I agree with @A MyFibroTeam Member. I tried everything from trazadone to ambien. Nothing worked long turn. Using melatonin has helped. Make sure to talk to your Dr or pharmacist before adding any new meds!

I cut out amitriptyline about 10 weeks ago as long term use can affect your heart, I'm now reducing Cymbalta because it reacts with tamoxifen and its causing me many withdrawal problems despite reducing slowly.
