I also find myself eating when I am in pain because it serves as a distraction. I guess I eat my feelings...literally.
Ooh gosh, I could eat constantly all day if I let myself, especially when im in pain and bored from a seemingly never ending flare! I really have to watch myself and be vigilant not to comfort eat or over-eat too much because I know that it may feel good for the few seconds it's in my mouth but soon as I've swallowed it I feel guilty and mad at myself for not having more self control. I struggle with my weight and recently lost 2 stone, so now I need to be mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth, especially with vastly decreased activity levels. I've gained weight recently from not being able to get out of bed but I'm hoping I can minimise the damage by trying to find other things to comfort me other than food... Like posting here! X
I have to agree I think the meds are making me gain weight. I also have been waking during the night craving something sweet. It may be something to do while most normal people are sleeping. I don't know.
Adding on, all our issues can cause some people to over eat, boredom, loneliness, pain, pleasure, comfort eating, I don't usually eat until about 2 pm and then it's a snack, we have dinner at 8pm. I usually don't get hungry until I smell someone else preparing food for themselves. THIS makes me hungry
Sometimes when I start eating it is very hard to stop. I don't diet, I am 5'5 and weigh 149lbs. I don't gain weight or lose it either, my metabolism is in park. I also take vit D, 5000 ui a day. I have ibs the magnesium causes flares, I have 2 inhalers that I only use for copd flare ups. I use generic allergy medicine. I was recently told my depression is now bipolar 1. I still take Paxil with no added med, I have days where I can't eat enough. With the weather changes I have noticed my water intake is a lot less, I tend to pound ice tea. I try to still drink at least 3 20 oz bottles a day. Hope that this helps. Hug's and more hugs for you today.
I didn't think about it until you said something. Whenever I am a bit more achie or hurting I do get the munchies. Like I said I never thought about it.
