IF you can withstand the deep tissue massage, go for it. Keep it honest and if it does hurt too much, just let them know and they will change it. Good luck! I hope it helps you!
I love my therapeutic massages. They are different from deep tissue masssge. When you fill out paperwork be honest. Write down that you have fibromyalgia and all other physical ailments. A good massage therapist can tweak the massage just for what you need. You may not like the first massage therapist you go to or you may adore her. I have the best massage therapist. I go once a month. It helps relax my mind and muscles.I don't suggest stones your first time.
Relax and enjoy.
Hi. Massage has been so wonderful in helping me control my fibro symptoms. I have been receiving massage therapy for many years. When I started I could hardly tolerate being touched but now am able to undergo fairly deep massage. My therapist is a Hellerwork practitioner and is able to determine how deep the massage can be simply by how my body reacts and adjusts her touch accordingly. I've been seeing my therapist every 2 weeks for close to 10 years and find that it is invaluable in helping lessen my pain significantly. Just remember that it is your body and you must speak up if any kind of therapist is being too rough even if they think/say they are not - you live in your body; they do not. I hope your massage brings you some relief. Blessings to you.
I am the same with massage, but there are relaxation massages with warm stones, etc. and just the relaxation gives me some relief, body & mind. If you have music you like, take that along. Best of luck ๐
My boyfriend uses his martial arts and tactical defense knowledge to help instead of aggravate the sensitive trigger point areas. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a massage therapist who did the same. I also live in a smaller city sI my options are somewhat limited.
