Hi Sian I was a P.A. and I kept losing time off work because I was soo tired (I put it down to Grief Reaction and Shock after my son was killed in Afghanistan) but eventually I was made redundant. I now work in light assembly. I started to lose time and then had a severe bout of flu where I was off for 3 weeks. I was so worried as I need some money coming in. Luckily the work nurse knew about Fibromyalgia and actually said I couldn't work full time and that I could only work maximum 6 hours a day and 5 on a Friday. They understand some days I need to go home as I'm too tired. I guess I'm saying that if you get an understanding employer then fingers crossed you'll be okay. it's such a worry isn't it. I've also tried for PIP benefit which is not means tested to make up my money but as of now it's going to Court. Good luck xx
It's a tough question. They can call absence reviews where they should offer you alternative arrangements is possible, eg working from home or adjusted hours. Fibro is mentioned in the Equality Act, so you can can wave that around. Speak to your Union.
I went through the process, but they made my life so difficult I decided to resign.
I Don know about the UK. However I have Lost my job once before and almost lost my current job due to my flares. Wishing you supportive management.
I'll need to dig it out but I've been there a year and i made it perfectly clear i had fibro before i started. Feel like im being pushed already, my attendance is quite good considering though! Xx
I was laid off work 11yrs ago but to be honest my job was killing me and i was happy with the decision as i had a very heavy job and i was getting weaker and weaker by the week. I am not sure of the rules but Fibromyalgia is a newly recognised illness here in the uk and lots of people have not heard of it
