My primary doctor told me I had fibromyalgia, he did blood work and touch me in these 12 trigger points on my body, which were very hurtful, he gave me pain med and made an appointment with a rheumatologist, and a psychologist, they are all very understanding. I hope you get doctors who understand what you are going through.

Drs said it was all in my head but then manifested itself into tension myalgia..basically saying because I kept my muscles tense, now they really are tense..bs. they basically had to rule EVERYTHING else out to determine what I had! I went to drs for years and finally found a Dr who believed me. Then once I went to pain management and physical therapy, they could tell my muscles were in bad shape. The also did some tests where they pushed on certain spots on my body that were "tell-tale" spots for fibro and they were very painful..plus all my other symptoms the deduced it was fibro.

Try a different doctor as i did because my usual doctor was dragging his feet about my diagnosis so i changed doctor and the new doctor knew all about Fibromyalgia so my diagnosis from him was really quick

Ive only recently been diagnosed my fibro was blamed on the peri menopause (which I do have) said was my age bound get sum aches & pains & other symptoms 2 so take pain killers use volterol!! My bff booked me in with her wen she went acupuncture didnt tell me till we turned up because I was low & despondent she asked all sorts questions said can treat & help me better wen no wot she's treating so insisted I went back see a new dr insist on mri scan & blood tests etc see if arthritis which I did. My new dr elimated these things then dug deeper with me took different approach found got symptoms of fibro starting wiv trauma which was my trigger then the symptoms started so now no what my 1st symptom was which couldn't be explained properly at the time by my neurologist. Is all stress related as was living with a form of it daily & had most my life which now needed 2 stop. I had 2 breakdowns in my early twenties & now because I'm mentally strong is coming out in my body in the form of fibro instead. I'm now starting deal with the demons causing the stress have already cut that & the people (i.e my family I grew up with) out my life as recommended am now feeling like a weight has been lifted am happy even though I'm left with everything else contend with. Sorry 2 ramble on this is the first time I have put it down in words x

Yes. My dr blamed my arthritis, child birth, etc. She ran test after test and they all came back negative. Eventually she pretty much said it was in my head. I got really mad and insisted that she send me to a rheumatologist.. After my diagnosis, I went back to her. She apologized. She said she didn't believe that fibro was a "real" disease until she went to a symposium on it and heard an expert speak about it.
