I have chronic b12 deficiency, meaning I cannot digest it no matter how much I ingest. I also can't take sleeping meds because they keep me awake. Caffeine puts me to sleep, and I'm lactose intolerant. My short term therapist though this was all incredibly strange, and surmised that I may be incapable of digesting other minerals that are affecting my well being. Oh and don't even talk to me about NSAIDS, those make me swell horribly... anyone else dealing with anything like this?

Members widely related to experiencing paradoxical or unusual reactions to medications, with many sharing that sleeping pills don't work or cause opposite effects, a phenomenon several attributed to fibromyalgia making their bodies respond differently than most people. Several members described overlapping digestive issues including celiac disease, IBS, candidiasis, and various food intolerances, with many finding relief through gluten-free and dairy-free diets despite the challenge of meal preparation during flare-ups. One member offered detailed guidance about a genetic B12 absorption issue and a supplement called Deplin that helped with energy and fatigue, while another shared that IV vitamin therapy was necessary to heal severe candidiasis before their body could properly absorb nutrients again.

I've had odd reactions to meds all the time. I think fibro puts us a lot of the time in the 1% that react differently than the normal range for any medications.

When I was first diagnosed with fibro 5 yrs ago, I was deficient in a lot of vitamins and my digestive tract was eaten up with candidiasis, so they gave me everything through an IV until I was rid of the candidiasis and could digest and absorb nutrients in my gastrointestinal tract.
