Does anyone know how quickly this progresses? I just got diagnosed and I have pain in all my joints and have had chronic migraines for over 3 years. Despite all that, I work 2 jobs and I'm trying to move forward in my career. I'm a paramedic, so my work is very physical. I also teach emergency medicine and cardiac rhythms part time. My doc started me on cymbalta. That was 2 weeks ago, and I'm not getting any relief. Does anyone else work a physical job? Or did you and you can't anymore? I have… read more

I have worked 12 hour shifts as an ICU charge RN with Fibro for 11 years. I have taken Molexicam this whole time. Did well until recently. I am distracted until I get home. Takes a long time to get to sleep; wake up stiff, once I get moving then I can take it. I say no to overtime. I don't take on extra projects. We operate a farm. So work is easier on me then the farm. Which we are thinking about selling so I can retire early.
Everyone is different and there are times you may have a remission in which nothing worsens, (although nothing may improve as well)
When you are hurting yourself more by doing your job, when you can't stand the extra pain, when you decide you and your personal life are more important for now, when you begin to forget things you definitely knew yesterday, when you endanger the life of a patient, when any of these things is bad, or in the case of your job, VERY bad, that's when it's time to either take an LOA or quit.
Every single one of us has either gone through it, is going through it now, or will eventually go through it. It is the nature of the Fibro condition.
I was diagnosed in 2012 , I agree everyone is different , everycase may be different, for me , lifestylechanges, , change in eating habits, THE POOL!!!
has helped me. I too have been taking CYMBALTA for a year now unfortunately I find no relief, I have had significant childhood Trauma which I believe has caused a lot of my symptoms throughout the years I just never knew why?
With therapy , proper understanding of my triggers, and understanding what triggers my " flareups" I am learning to live with Fibromyagia.
For me Cold weather plays a big part too.
I had to resign 3 jobs due to my condition.
Everyone is different, everycase is different , everyone may not be able to deal with the pain the same for what ever reason.
Gentle soft hugs to you...
