I was told I have several food allergies. I'm still trying to figure out how to manage that life aspect. I'd like to hear from others about their experiences and what did/didn't work.

Members shared diverse dietary approaches they've tried to manage fibromyalgia symptoms, with several emphasizing that reducing sugar, gluten, and white carbs helped lower inflammation, while others found success with ketogenic, paleo, low FODMAP, and plant-based diets like Eat to Live. Many community members described practical meal strategies, including protein powder smoothies with coconut milk for breakfast, blended greens with berries for lunch, and emphasizing organic whole foods, with one member recommending books like The Autoimmune Solution and The Paleo Approach to better understand the digestion process. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error nature of finding what works for your body, the challenge of navigating multiple food allergies, and the value of allergy testing like the RAST blood test to guide elimination diets more confidently.

I felt great on the ketogenic diet but I got tired of the food. I tried the Paleo and now I follow the low Fodmap diet for IBS. First rule is Sugar=inflammation , I also avoid gluten and white carbs like rice, bread, pasta, crackers etc. The Autoimmune Solution" and "The Paleo Approach" are great books to read to understand digestion process. Good luck.

@A MyFibroTeam Member. I found a protein powder that I like. I'll have to see if it has any of your allergens. I put a scoop of that with coconut milk and unsweetened Starbucks coffee from the supermarket. I've been drinking that for my breakfast for 3 years. Keeps me hydrated and satisfied. For lunch I blend frozen kale, or spinach with frozen blueberry mix (I'm on the low FODMAP diet which doesn't recommend fruit joint on large quantities for IBS). I blend with plain Greek yogurt and drink or freeze and eat like a sorbet at lunch. Dinner is Salade and mea, maybe Okinawan sweet potato. No gluten.

Thanks! I've read the Paleo Approach and I like the concept. I'm allergic to gluten, dairy, eggs, beef, and pork. Most meals I can manage all right, but breakfast is a challenge still. Do you have a breakfast favorite?

Did you have allergy testing? I would be more comfortable having the testing done. RAST Test is the best, it's simple blood draw not all those little injections. Modern medicine at it's best. Go from there.
