I just wanted to ask anyone who is willing to give your imput, did you have any side effects when you 1st started Lyrica, if so any comments or replies would be very appreciated. I just started it 2 days ago
As the day /evening went on, I felt off balance, dropping stuff, felt foggy in the head. Even my mom noticed and said I didn't look right. I am also on a temporary dose of steroids, Medrol dosepak just 5 days. I'm used to those side effects, I've had that med before, a few times. Anyway,… read more

@A MyFibroTeam Member Awesome that you got a little more sleep, that is a positive sign. Also I have to comment on your MD who really sounds like he is considering all of your issues and doing his best for you. Some of us aren't that lucky!
had all the side effects - want to get off of it asap. I can't feel "normal"
Hi Kelli,
Thanks for your reply about your experience with Lyrica. I'm having trouble with balance and foggy head. I already take opioid pain meds. I go to a pain clinic for 3 yrs now. My Dr's are wonderful. They're very empathetic and understanding of what I am going through. They treat each patient as an individual case, obviously because everyone has different ailments.
I was just started on the Lyrica last week and my Dr put me on the medrol dosepak /steroids, at the same time. That's been really hard having side effects from both meds at the same time, because I can't obviously tell what symptoms are from which med. I just finished the steroids, last dose yesterday. Now I hope u can decipher the side effects from the Lyrica easier, but so far I'm still not feeling right. I'm an RN so I know what side effects are like from the steroids, but the Lyrica really is making me feel strange. I don't like it at all! I would love to know that if the side effects are going to go away after awhile, then I could handle them a little better then. Well, I'll just have to try to get through at least 1 week on the Lyrica, without the steroids. Then I'll decide if I can deal with the side effects all the time? I know I could for awhile, but not if they're not going to go away! And I'm not at all up for gaining weight! I just got back to my usual weight after having a previous hospitalization, that had me on IV steroids for 10 days. I'm finally back to my high school weight, took me almost 2 yrs to lose the weight. I am going to try to wait it out a few more days, then call my pain clinic Dr and tell him what I've been going through from the Lyrica.

Gained 30 pounds in 6 weeks of being on Lyrica. Also had vivid dreams/nightmares. Affected my balance and coordination. Went off it and because exercise is so painful for me still have the 30 pounds after 2 months. Lyrica has made me more miserable than ever. Nothing I try works. I am tempted to try opioids for pain/sleep as I feel I am facing my last resort.
Hi Porkchop,
I hear what you're saying and I am very fortunate to have the Dr's I do! I don't know and can't imagine having to deal with this disease, Fibro, plus have your own Dr question your reality of your disease and the horrible symptoms that go with it. I just wish we could all come together and get the word out there to more Drs and the medical community as a whole! I, even as a medical professional myself am well aware that there isn't a smudge of a % of nurses, PA's, NP's etc, that truly know what Fibromyalgia even is! I know when I was in nursing school, it was maybe mentioned 1x because it was in a tiny paragraph in my med -surg book, therefore the instructors felt they had to slip it into a sentence in case they wanted to put a question about it on a test or something like that.
I am really sorry I started the Lyrica now. I just hope and pray that the side effects of it will begin to subside soon. If not, I'm going to call my Dr at my pain clinic and let him know how it's making me feel. I have only had 1 positive feedback from the # of people who were kind enough like yourself, to take the time and help me out with my question regarding Lyrica.
Well, I hope you are getting some good sleep tonight! Thanks again for your help and advice. I really appreciate it all. Regards & gentle hugs, Barb / BCRN
