Members rallied around someone newly diagnosed with sleep apnea, sharing their own experiences with CPAP and BiPAP machines and emphasizing how transformative proper treatment can be for sleep quality and daytime functioning. Several members described dramatic improvements after starting therapy, including fewer nighttime awakenings, elimination of restless legs, and better oxygen levels, though some noted it took time to adjust to the mask and a few felt minimal improvement despite correct usage. A recurring theme was encouragement to stick with the treatment despite initial discomfort, with members sharing practical tips like trying different mask styles and taking sleep aids during the adjustment period.

I have had a sleep apnea test and mine was positive also. I was shocked at how many times I stopped breathing in 1 minute (50-60!). Now I sleep with a CPAP machine and a mask on my face. Amazed at how well I sleep now! I don't wake up so many times (only for restroom breaks) and no more Restless Leg! Been wearing it about 3 years and got adjusted to it immediately! Feel so much better! Hope your experience goes well.

I am collecting my sleep study kit from the hospital on weds......I don't think I have sleep apnoea as I never wake in the night....I'm just always tired and don't ever feel like I've slept well. Has anyone else been diagnosed who didn't wake throughout the night?

I use a CPAP machine and feel absolutely no difference. I was in bed or on couch for the first 6 weeks as I flared because I was doing something different. The paperwork states I am doing much better - I too had apnea 50-60 times a minute and am now well below the accepted level but there in no change in fatigue, pain, or anything. I was wearing it full time since day one and it has been 3 years. Doctor says it makes a difference to heart and organs to wear it but I surely can't tell. Hope it helps you as it does help a lot but wanted you to know that not everyone feels different.
