My hands are affected daily and have been since the start of being diagnosed with fibro. I have shooting pain, swelling, stiffness and they will go extremely cold at times. When they get really bad not much I can do. I like to use hand warmers when they go through the cold stage and mainly its my right hand. Other than that nothing really helps the pain for my hands.

My hands hurt all the time too. Tested for carpal tunnel and then doc said it must be from neck as I had fusion from C2-7 with laminectomy. Wasn't diagnosed with fibro then so think that's what it's from. I put them under heating pad. Felt good!

I have carpal tunnel in both my hands and the doc said its because of my fibro... My hands hurt so much, I can no longer use them and if I do I suffer for days.... Will be going for surgery soon to release the tension. But to answer you, yes hands, elbows, shoulder... It all gets affected...

I have arthritis in my hands so get lot of pain. I wear heat therapy gloves when they are really bad,they are fingerless gloves made from the same stuff as wet suits, I have found them to be good. I also regularly do hand exercises which I got from a physiotherapist. Hope this helps.

Before each of my GI/IBS flares my hands had problems. My ulnar nerves on both arms were inflamed somehow and made my last 3 fingers painful, numb and tingling. I had a cervical spine MRI 2 years ago and again today. There was evidence of disc degeneration 2 years ago and nerve conduction study showed ulnar nerve irritated in wrist (guyon canal syndrome). If you thumb, pointer and middle fingers are affected then it would be carpal tunnel syndrome which is on the list of medical problems that go with FM. I wore the night splints which resolved my problem until August. Then hands and elbows started having shooting pains. I got steroid injections to both elbows which helped a little then an injection to c- spine which didn't hrlp much. 2 months into this I still have the pain and poor grasp strength. Don't know if problem coming from neck. Will find out with report sometime next week. Hope this helps.
