Missing Appointments
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Dose anyone else make appointments just to find yourself constantly rescheduling or missing them? I'm always so excited then the day comes and either I hurt to much to drive myself or my depression just sick the life out of me or I forget

Having worked at a physician's office for a long time, the doctor would also know of those who cancelled regularly or did not show.

Sometimes, constantly rescheduling or being a "No Show" at appointments, at least dr. appointments, can have a negative effect on getting a new appointment when we may really need it.
Some docs may not take us seriously or cannot truly assess us if we don't commit to their professional instructions.
It's difficult for them, too, when we don't get to the specialists/labs/and other tests that they may refer us to.

I have worked on scheduling my dr. appointments around times that are better for me, physically like late morning or early afternoon. I try to stay away from heavy traffic times.

Adding a small errand later to my appointment date helps, too. I drive my car through a car wash when
I go to one doctor. There is a special restaurant near another appointment. I'll pick up something as a take.out for my husband.

Maybe you can ask someone to drive you, at times. Maybe you can do something in return for them.
Friends and family may not understand our pain but they do understand that we hurt.

The BEST advice I can give is to have a good rapport with the office receptionist/scheduler(s).
Call BEFORE the scheduled appointment to reschedule the date and/or time, if necessary.

I've asked office staff, 'would it be possible to phone a couple of your afternoon appointments and see if they will switch with my morning appointment tomorrow. I really need to see doctor, but the morning is tough, for me'.
This really can help you keep more of your appointments. The office, and doctor, will be pleased to have a full schedule.
Always make your appointments count. Keep your words short but informative. Take notes to your appointment, if it helps explain things to the doctor.
I would talk, cry, lose control. It would do nothing for me or the doctor. Make it a WIN;WIN!!!!!

My BEST!

I think first would be to find a doctor who actually cares second I don't have anyone to take me and if it's not my physical then it's my mental if I could get them to work together then I wouldn't have fibromyalgia or be bipolar 1.... but I do and iam..

Yes, sometimes I'm too exhausted and totally forget...or I just don't have the energy to be bothered. It d bad and rude and I should call and reschedule but it's overpowering sometimes the fatigue and mental state it puts you in.
