Members connected over unexplained sweating episodes, with many describing sudden, intense sweats that feel like being drenched in rain, occurring regardless of temperature or activity level, and causing significant embarrassment in public settings. Several members identified potential causes including lupus symptoms, perimenopause and hot flashes, and side effects from fibromyalgia medications like Cymbalta, with some noting the tradeoff between medication benefits and sweating as a tolerable side effect. A recurring theme was the frustration of doctors offering no clear solutions, the emotional toll of feeling self-conscious during everyday activities, and the relief of realizing this struggle is shared and possibly connected to their chronic conditions rather than something they're experiencing alone.

yes I do for the last 4-5 years now, especially in the summer. However it also happens in the winter with sweat running down my face. It is very embarrassing and very self loathing when you are up at the checkout counter and you are wiping your face and trying to pay for an item. They ask "are you alright?" "Oh yes, I am fine", thinking to myself the whole time "I have fibromyalgia and this is one of its curses". It takes me a couple of hours to dress because I have to stop and try to cool off. The doctors don't know what is happening and have no solution. So we carry on, one day at a time. Did it just start with you??

I did the same thing being peri-menopause at 43. Hot flashes. That was pre-Fibro. They continue to this day 13 years laters. It matters not what time of year or temp. Someone else mentioned meds can cause the sweating. Check side effects of your meds, and notify your doctor.

Check your medications. I do have that problem and know that some of my medications I take for Fibromyalgia add to the problem. Decision time to chose whether the med is worth the problem. So far, my meds outweigh my excessive sweating.
