Does Anyone Have Pain Under Their Armpit(s)?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I find this really strange because it's a totally new symptom this year . . .

Does anyone have pain under their armpit(s)? I get achy pain under one or both of my armpits that typically radiates into my breast.

It's not there all the time, but it is becoming more and more frequently. It comes and goes and sometimes knife-like stabbing with it. It's starting to freak me out.

I haven't mentioned it to my primary doctor 1) because I always have a laundry list of things to talk to her… read more

Members rallied around someone experiencing new armpit pain that radiates into the breast, with many confirming they have experienced similar stabbing or aching sensations that come and go unpredictably. Several members shared that their doctors attributed the pain to fibromyalgia-related muscle inflammation or costochondritis (inflammation between the ribs), with practical relief strategies including ice packs, massage, rest, and pain medications like Tramacet or over-the-counter options, though some noted sensitivity to certain meds. A recurring theme was the frustration of feeling dismissed by doctors who seem not to listen, the emotional relief of knowing others share the same strange symptom, and strong encouragement to advocate for oneself by finding a more supportive physician who takes fibromyalgia seriously.

Thank you for your above post, I'm sitting here with my right arm locked to my side with pain in my arm pit so so sore, feeling quite frightened. It's reassuring to know that I can look up and see if it relates to fibro, so thank you x

Hi, I have been newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year after a long time of random symptoms. One of the worst symptoms is this pain under my armpits... it's really hard to describe but it becoming more and more frequent. The only way I can describe it is like someone has lifted you up by the fingertips under your arms and really dug in and then the pain stays... it's a burning/tingly pain for me.... is this what you experience??

I get it so bad that the swelling is the size of a tennis ball in my arm pit! The swelling in my chest area increases some days so much that my bras don't fit and I can't move my left arm! I have had many tests but nothing! Doc told me its fibro inflammation! I feel your pain it is very uncomfortable and painful! I put ice on it,seems to help a little.
