Members shared deeply personal stories about the onset of their fibromyalgia symptoms, with the overwhelming consensus being that intense physical trauma (such as multiple surgeries, car accidents, work injuries, or serious falls) combined with prolonged emotional stress (including work pressure, divorce, caregiving for addicted loved ones, or financial hardship) appeared to trigger or worsen their condition. Several members offered practical advice for managing flares during upcoming surgeries, including communicating anxiety to the anesthesiologist for pre-surgical muscle relaxants, requesting supportive positioning during procedures, and having pain medications ready at home for recovery. A recurring theme was the powerful role of unrelenting stress in activating fibromyalgia, with members encouraging each other to create calming home environments, seek housing assistance when needed, and recognize that even hidden stressors take a toll on the body.

Fibromyalgia is deep rooted nerve pain. I truly believe that stress is the culprit. I got diagnosed while wking on a very stressfulful job and after being diagnosed with Raynauds Disease. And pay attention to those outside stressors. We may think that we aren't stressed out but we are. My therapist had me to make my bedroom a little soft serene sanctuary. I love the stars...so my children bought me a bunch of stars and out them all around my bedroom...so at night when my lights are out my room is lit up with beautiful stars all around me.

To me it seem like it came out of no where overnight. I had a major flair up, that lasted 3 days. I have been feeling sluggish for the past year but I thought it was my thyroid. How wrong I was.
The only thing that I think could be a contributeing factor, is I have a high stressful job. But I do love the work I do.
