Has anyone been diagnosed with FM then had a neg TFT test but then had a T3 test that has been positive
It was standard for me, but recently after my levothyroxine being change several times I discovered that they weren't doing it. It took me awhile to convince my Dr., but once they did the T3 they found they didn't need to change it anymore.
I have had no tests other than all the x-Rays and other tests to rule out other diseases and ailments.
Sadly they won't go that far in Canada. They only test baseline TSH levels. I asked to get T3 and T4 tested and they said no!
You have to go to a functional medicine doctor to get any detective work done on your thyroid. They will run the more obscure tests. They check for parasites, Candida, leaky gut, thyroid and even Hashimotos all kinds of test which most doctors don't. I'm in the process of getting that done.
I insisted on having t3 and t4 tested. My Tsh is on the very lowest side of normal. I started meds but haven't felt much of a difference yet. I've done a lot of reading on thyroid problems and it seems to be likely that doctors are ignoring potential problems because someone is barely in the normal range. Some people function best at a slightly higher level (within the normal range, of course).
