Members shared their experiences applying for Social Security disability benefits, with the overwhelming consensus being that thorough documentation from doctors, detailed application answers, and persistence through the appeals process are essential, as most people are initially denied and need to reapply or get a lawyer. Several members described waiting periods ranging from months to two years between application and approval, with some finding success through advocacy organizations like Allsup or public assistance advocates who helped gather detailed medical forms specific to conditions like fibromyalgia. A recurring theme was the emotional and financial stress of navigating denials from both Social Security and long-term disability insurers, even with strong medical documentation, leaving many feeling frustrated that their doctors' assessments were being overruled by people who had never examined them.

I'm on ssd which is probably more what you want. You can apply online. Have all your Dr information test dates etc available when you do it. The more through you are the better your chance. Also if your Dr's make sure they give everything asked of them. You will be frequently called and asked questions answer thoroughly. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask me.

Omg, me too its sad that they don't even take what a Dr has to say, I so frustrated, they think we want to live like this. If I could work I would. I can't believe that they are above the Dr and can say the Dr is so wrong, and they are right!!!!!
