I have a spinal cord stimulator in my back. It has two metal wires infused into my spine connected to a battery in my hip. It helps block the pain signals to my brain, basically like a distraction. I've only met one other person with a SCS, but unfortunately I lost him to a plane crash last September. I would love to know how other people use theirs and if it works well for them.
It has worked amazingly to help with my nerve and muscle pain! I have fibro and occipital neuralgia and so I have it where I can turn it on in my legs, arms, or neck to help with whatever pain I have at the moment. It's like an internal TENS unit, it just feels like it's sort of vibrating your legs, and it really does distract from the pain. I only use mine at night, but there's a remote that goes with it that you carry with you to control it and turn it on/off. The company that made mine is Boston Scientific, they're great! They're supposedly still working on an iPhone app so you don't have to carry the remote with you.
The only downside is it actually made my back pain worse in a way, because of the metal wires on my spine, I can get really stiff and it's uncomfortable. Especially after a long day of classes.
But overall it's helped a lot! I just haven't met many people with one!
I don't have to implanted SCS but my doc gave me the paper work & DVD on it, to consider. On the last page of my paperwork it had # to call the company(St. Judes was the co that made this one) & they will put you in touch with other people who have the implant. good luck

im working on geting one
I am waiting to get a SCS, I am glad to read or hear of someone who has it. Does it give you much relief and does it help with Fibro pain. (Fibro pain is not the reason I'm getting it) but I'm interested in knowing if it really works for what is intended and Fibro.
