Gaining Weight
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I started taking Cymbalta (60mg) last year in July. All of a sudden I started gaining weight. If it was from the medication wouldn't I have stated gaining weight when I started it?

When I started taking Cymbalta I gained weight but it was early on, then it stopped and started again. I think our metabolism gets out of wack and if you are going thru menopause that will cause weight gain. I started trying a generic Lyrica and gained a lot of weight. All of the muscle relaxers make me gain a lot of weight so I cannot take them. With the extra 15 lbs I gained in the last 6 months my back hurts more, my legs and my feet hurt all the time. I used to be able to walk and not have my legs and feet hurt but not any more.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I am exactly the same with libido and it is awful. I don't take the meds you're on but I think it's from the citalopram (or it's just me :(

Penelope, I started gaining within 3 mo. I have seemed to level off now . Not gaining, not losing. Exercise would help, but just can't seem to due to pain. I do go up and down stairs alot in the house. 😕

I'm considering stopping the Cymbalta to see if it makes a difference. It doesn't really help with the fibro, it does help with my anxiety.....but gaining weight is giving me anxiety 😕

I know some meds can cause weight gain but Fybro itself caused my weight gain as I went from being very active to being virtually immobile most days from the pain and fatigue, even though my healthy diet didn’t change (if anything I cut out bread n pasta for ages)!!! I just try to drink plenty of water/cordial,eat healthy foods still and exercise when able to..good luck hun n sending gentle hugs 🤗
