Has anyone noticed a dip in their metabolism? I seem to be gaining weight for no reason. :(

Members discussed concerns about metabolism changes and weight gain, with a strong recurring pattern linking the medication Lyrica to significant weight increases, with several members reporting gains between 40 and 50 pounds despite the drug providing better pain relief than alternatives like gabapentin. Many community members described the difficult trade-off between managing their pain effectively and coping with unwanted side effects, with some choosing to switch medications or stop Lyrica altogether despite its benefits. A recurring theme was the frustration of navigating weight changes that feel beyond personal control, whether from medications, underlying conditions affecting metabolism, or the physical limitations that make traditional weight management approaches challenging.

Gabapentin is also known for making people more tired. Just something to be aware of.

I have always had a very slow metabolism. I have been on diet my entire life and struggled with eating disorders while still remaining obese. In university drs didnt take my anorexia and excessive exercise seriously because I still weighed over 150lbs, until I ended up hospitalized. Now I am constantly nauseous and I would be happy not eating at all due to my stomach issues, IBS, and food intolerances. But I force myself to eat healthy in an attempt to aid my fibro. And despite my very healthy diet, I am over 250lbs now. And I hate it. Yes I am on Lyrica, but I cant blame it on that because I was steadily gaining long before going on it. My TSH is always normal, but Ive always wondered if my poor metabolism and fibro was related.
