I was in sun for maybe ten minutes yesterday and have a horrible headache. Is it because we are more sensitive to the heat?

Members confirmed that fibromyalgia often causes heightened sensitivity to heat and sun, with many experiencing headaches, nausea, and skin reactions after just brief exposure. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them cope, including wearing sunglasses and sun hats, staying in the shade, hydrating frequently (especially since fibromyalgia medications can be dehydrating), and being mindful that certain medications like Cymbalta can increase light and heat sensitivity. A recurring theme was the frustration of losing the ability to enjoy outdoor activities, with members empathizing over the cascading effects where sun exposure triggers migraines, which then flare fibromyalgia and other pain conditions.

Yes because of my migraines and fibro pain the heat hurts. Meds will warn you about direct sunlight.

Yes, fm causes all sorts of sensitivity issues. Light, noise, touch... I find that I can't be in the sun for very long & not have a headache or feel nauseous. I can't even go out w/o sunglasses. Hydrate. Hydrate.

I have found I do not tolerate the sun any more. My skin burns so easily to, but that could be medication. Make sure you hydrate, Fibro meds dry you out!
