Anyone else here try Low Dose Naltrexone? Any side effects, and did you find your symptoms had improved? Why isn't this being prescribed more often for fibromyalgia?

Members shared mixed but largely hopeful experiences with Low Dose Naltrexone for fibromyalgia, with several reporting significant pain relief after starting at 4.5 mg and gradually increasing their dose, while one member found it made their pain worse and had to discontinue. Many members emphasized the importance of patience, noting that LDN can take weeks to months to show full benefits, may cause initial side effects in the first two weeks, and requires careful timing since it blocks opioid pain medications when taken at night. A recurring theme was cautious optimism, with members encouraging each other to start slowly, monitor for side effects, and remain patient through the adjustment period while hoping LDN might offer relief where other treatments have failed.

@A MyFibroTeam Member You have to start off slowly with a small dosage and increase the dosage until your pain get better. It does not help with fatigue. I haven't found anything that helps with fatigue. I have blood work done routinely to make sure I am not having any issues with my liver. I have not had any side effects from LDN. I hope it helps you! :)

Yes @A MyFibroTeam Member I take 25mg a night my doctor said I can take 50mg if I am in a bad flare. The tablets come in 50mg and I cut them in half.

No side effects. If you are on FB type in LDN and the first 3 or 4 groups are the ones I am in. Look in their file sections. Lots of info. Nice people in the group.

I've read research that it has worked for MS and other autoimmune diseases. I was on Tramadol but I found that I was taking it when I wasn't even in that much pain and I realized that I was becoming addicted to it. I went cold turkey and had a horrible time dealing with the extreme sadness/depression that comes after stopping Tramadol. But that was just me. Because of what I read, the LDN is out of your system by morning, so I don't see why you can't take pain medications during the day, as long as they are out of your system by the time you take the LDN. I was told by my doctor that the low dosage is almost at a homeopathic level.
