Members helped clarify the difference between fibromyalgia tender points and myofascial trigger points in response to someone asking about the trigger point scale. Several members explained that fibromyalgia diagnosis involves testing 18 specific tender points on the body, including areas like elbows, knees, hips, back, neck, shoulders, and chest, with 11 out of 18 needing to respond painfully to pressure for diagnosis. A recurring theme was the supportive, patient tone of the community, with members emphasizing that personal experiences often explain medical concepts more clearly than online searches and encouraging questions without hesitation.

Actually trigger points are firm nodules that you can feel in your muscles...like a tight rope. And when you press on those areas the pain shoots in other regions, which is Myofascial Pain and tender points when pressed it causes pain in that local area which is Fibro. Hope that also helps explain the diff. between the two.

Sometimes it's better to hear from someone that's been through it or understands it a little better than searching. And that's what we are here for so don't ever be afraid to ask. Sometimes google gets like MD's too into medical terms...I think. And if you don't know those medical terms sometimes even harder to understand:) So even if you google you can still always ask us our opinions/experiences too:) God bless et lotsa hugs

There are certain areas they test on your body such as inside of elbows et knees, hips et back area, neck, shoulder, et chest area. They MD applies a certain amount of pressure to those areas et depending on how much pressure is applied determines if you have it...there are 18 pts. you have to have 11 out of 18 to be dx. Hope that helps et hope I explained ok.
