I've been in pain for over 3 years now with a host of other symptoms from migraines to hair loss to insomnia, ibs, memory and speech problems resembling an oral dyslexia, horrible aches and pain in my neck, shoulder, and upper back area although I do occasionally get pain in my thighs lower back and down my legs sometimes which the er said was sciatica. This might sound like an obvious answer, but most of us have had to go to quite a few doctors before we find one that will diagnose us with what we really have, which is fibro. You might want to see if there is anyone from your area here in the forum that can recommend a doctor who actually believes and treats fibro. It just seems like so many of them still don't. It seems you are just wasting time and money on the ones who are sending you for test after test. Find another doctor and another one after that. Find one who will believe and be sympathetic to what you are saying.
Tell you boss you need it in writing why he/she feels you need to go on fmla. They may be helpful in getting you disability.
That is my fear RobinC. My boss is making me take fmla. I am afraid that they are working a case to get rid of me. Been there for 9 years rarely take a day off. But every time I call in sick one (maybe once twice a month) my boss suggests fmla or "why don't you go on disability?" The stress my boss puts on me is making my fibro symptoms worse.
Sorry. as for the main question...FIND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR, PLEASE. It is aggravating, frustrating, and feels like nobody listens to you. You have got to keep fighting. Be strong and Good Luck.
I too went through a ton of doctors, I also recommend an RA. Keep trying until you feel like y I u have a doctor who works with you. It really ticks me off that some Dr's just don't get it!!!! Hugs to you.
I would find another doctor. My neuro was working of my migraines and other trying to find out what was causing my other symptoms. Brain MRI was suspicious of MS, he ran every test possible to confirm or rule out MS. He was happy to be able to rule out MS. My PCP diagnosed me with Fibro at that point. Rheumy confirmed that diagnosis as did my neuro. It can take years for a diagnosis, I have had chronic pain since I was a child...I just thought that was the way it was supposed to be...Once I had insurance, I was lucky and had a diagnosis in 8 months. My neuro was the same neuro I had seen for my migraines in the past.
