I filed while I was still working and even after getting approved for a while. I was approved very quickly, didn't need a lawyer nor did my dr take me off work first. I just went to SS office. The guy I talked to helped fill out my paper work. A couple weeks later someone from the office called me and made me an appt with one of their drs and a couple weeks after my dr appt I was approved. I got really lucky tho. I've never heard of anyone else getting approved that quickly. I had a great boss that worked with me and I the worse I got the more I cut my hours until I was working 2 hrs a day and would almost crawl in my house crying from the pain. I still had to wait 5 months before I got my first check though because there is a waiting period of 6 months from the time you apply until you're able to start drawing your check. But they change the rules all the time. When my brother-in-law applied he had to completely quit working. He had applied several months before I did and it took him over 2 yrs to get his and he not only had Lupus but had a tumor on his heart. I think it depends on the person you get to handle your case honestly......

there is state disability and federal disability, and also workers compensation, talk to a lawyer in your area for the best answers.

No working, I live in Kansas, and it's extremely hard to get disability here. It took over 2 years for my husband to get it after a motorcycle wreck broke his neck. Not only did we go broke, had to file a bankruptcy on his medical bills. I would try it in aa heartbeat if I thought I could get it, I struggle everyday because without my insurance, from my job, I might just die.

Oh, so sorry that things are this tough for you. The plantar fascitis is terribly painful. The social security system has no answers as to what you are supposed to do waiting for a check. Yes, you can apply while still working. I have been through some really rough crap in my life and feel for you. Sure hope things get better.
