Members connected over the shared experience of severe hand, finger, thumb, and toe pain, with many reporting that their doctors diagnosed it as osteoarthritis, which they described as distinctly different from fibromyalgia pain. Several members shared strategies they found helpful, including Voltaren gel, anti-inflammatory medications, compression gloves, Cymbalta, methotrexate, and turmeric, though effectiveness varied widely from person to person. A recurring theme was the intense and sometimes debilitating nature of the pain, which many found worse at night, with some members finding temporary relief from prednisone despite its side effects, and others exploring whether carpal tunnel syndrome might be contributing to their symptoms.

I have terrible finger, thumb and hand pain....and also toe pain. The doctor says it is arthritis. IT is a different type of pain than my fibro...and I often find myself rubbing my hands because they hurt so badly. They make some gloves for hand/finger pain....they do help me some but are not practical for keeping on doing things much.

Yes, I actually just started getting this recently. It runs down my hand straight through my index finger and it hurts. I hold it, rubbing it. I also get a weird feeling in my hand like inside is a guitar string and someone plucked it. I've had that before. It feel weird and I don't like it.

Yes my rheumatologist told me it was osteoarthritis too.....cymbalta did nothing for me...I am on an anti-inflammatory but that doesn't help either. I LOVED being on prednisone but it is so hard on your body=-plus lots of weight gain....
