Difficulty Finding Words And Comprehension.
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Lately I find my self calling objects by the wrong name or finding words. Today I couldn't understand a document I was to read. This is scary to me since I know very well what fibro fog is but never had this much trouble with memory and words. Anyone else have this problem and have you spoken to your doctor about it? What was the outcome? Thanks!

Yes ...everyday I have Fibro fog..some days are better than others..I know I will not gain weight..because I walk to many miles looking for everything I lose...LOL..♥I write notes and lose them..I find tons of surprises..because..I find something I lost before..am so happy I found it..its like gifts coming my way all the time..LOL..I know it all is not funny..but if a video camera was on us in a day..it just might look like a comedy..learn to laugh at it..instead of getting frustrated..I ask everyone for help now..when I have to do paperwork..like at DMV..or applications..because I just make wayyyy to many mistakes..what I have found is... if you ask for help... people are sooooo nice..!!! and say sure no problem.!!! ...but if I act like I know what I am doing..and have a little attitude..with a million mistakes..its way harder on me and them.......one time I went to the store for a friend...she is a gourmet chef..and on her list was items..I knew I would never find in this huge store..so I asked for help..as sooooon as I walked in...I .gave the lady who worked in the store my list..I .said " I needed help finding all these items"...she was stocking the shelves..she said"" sure"" she took the list I followed her with the cart..and she was done in like 5 minutes..and it was a long list.....I said OMG would of taken me a hour...thank you so much..I said OMG you were my Angel today...I was happy..!!!1 and she was happy!!! for helping..!!

I actually had a complete neuropsychological exam because of my memory and cognitive problems and my doctor told me that my brain isn't processing information the way it should and that he believes 100% that it is the fibro and not due to any other neurological issues. I also had an EEG and a MRI and both were fine.
He might want to put me on stimulants to make my brain work more quickly but besides that there isn't anything that can be done.

All we can really do is write things down that we need to remember.

As for them being side effects of lyrica-
I used to take gabapentin and these things happened after a year on it. It's almost the same drug but then stopped after.
They are definitely part of fibromyalgia.

Yup I've always a had a great vocabulary until the last couple of years and now everything is either a thingy or a thingy-thing... Whilst I'm gesturing wildly trying to explain myself lol it's actually a really common cognitive symptom of fibromyalgia, so you are most definitely not alone. I don't know anything about medical treatments for it, but I play as many word games and read as often as I can. I figure that exercising that part of My brain is a good way to keep it sharp
