I am wondering what the tips and tricks are for those of us living alone with fibro? How do you deal with flares? Etc.
If you look for aids to help with healthcare. I look under Arthritis aids and aids for the blind. I have a grabber/reacher in 3 of the rooms so if I drop something or have to reach for something; a shower chair to sit in the shower; hand-held shower head; pill tracker; mobile chair for inside the house; ergonomic office chair. They also have things that help get dressed, wash/brush your hair, put on socks, and many others.
Right now my daughter lives with me and helps me. Once I'm on my own I will be getting one of those life-line buttons that will call someone if I need help or get hurt.
Keeping an even schedule of chores/fun stuff and rest works for me. It is always a target and don't beat myself up if it is not followed to the letter. Pick up as I go and deep clean one area per day.
Flares are spent under thick soft comforter, snuggling with dog, listening to TV. Add in extra pain meds if needed.
Good luck. Hope this helps, Traci
JennySettlemoirMillerTierney: I'm sure if you qualify for a working dog they can pretty much train them for almost anything. They aren't just to lead people who are blind.
Just curious but what about working dogs. Do they train any for fibromyalgia sufferers?
Great advice Sheryl
