I quite frequently have issues with my speech. I stutter, stammer and seem not to be able to get my words out. This is so embarrassing since I have been a very good speaker. I have to interface with clients everyday and this condition makes me look stupid.

Members rallied around someone experiencing speech difficulties like stuttering, stammering, and word-finding problems, validating these symptoms as part of fibro fog, a common but often overlooked cognitive symptom of fibromyalgia. Several members shared practical coping strategies including speaking slowly to give yourself time to find words, breathing deeply to reduce stress, and letting others know you need patience, while also noting that symptoms worsen with fatigue, stress, or high pain days. A recurring theme was the profound frustration and embarrassment of losing cognitive abilities you once had, from forgetting basic words mid-sentence to struggling in professional settings, met with fierce reassurance that members are not alone and not unintelligent despite how isolating and misunderstood these symptoms feel.

@A MyFibroTeam Member. I totally understand!! Word search is very frustrating and few people understand why we just don't find it funny!! I also totally forget what things are called sometimes. Or transpose numbers/letters. You can imagine how that was a bad thing when I was still a nurse. Sometimes I couldn't remember how to do procedures I'd done hundreds of times!! Or how about the "swiss cheese" memory? Some days my memory is so bad I can forget the most basic things, like my phone number. It's all swept under the umbrella of "fibro fog" but you seldom see it addressed by anybody in the medical community. It a major factor in fibromyalgia and yet is so often never talked about. I wish I had something great to be able to tell you that will help but NOT. I do have a much better time of the fibro fog since I started taking Savella but it's always an issue! My poor husband has to repeat conversations or information so often to me because I forget that he has already told me. You aren't alone!! Hope your day will be low pain and high energy!!

I'm the same I'm only 31 and I feel like I'm going mad. Untill 18 m to 2 yrs ago I was holding down a full time job supporting families and it involved being on the ball and very knowledgeable of a loads of different subjects, rules, Acts but it just became more and more difficult. I was having to write everything down as I would forget things. I would try to inform families of things but was finding it hard to voice what I needed to say. Now I've left my job and I feel like I flutter from one thing to the next as I can't remember what I was about to do all the time. I've forgotten kids plays, to take medication and things like did I lock the car door even though I have just done it. Makes life so hard and people just don't understand.

The main problem is remembering words or use the wrong word. It's entertainment for all in my family. EG I said underwear instead of under bridge.
