How do you deal with fibro fog? I hate when I can't find a word in my brain. I know it's there, but I just can't find the word. What are you doing to help this problem?

Members shared their frustration with fibro fog and the challenge of losing words mid-sentence, with many describing it as feeling like their brain has a layer of vaseline over it that makes every thought struggle to emerge. Several members offered practical coping strategies, including using smartphone notes and voice assistants to capture thoughts immediately, playing daily brain games like word finds and crosswords, taking omega-3 krill oil or B12 injections, and relying on trusted partners or family to help fill in the blanks during conversations. A recurring theme was the importance of explaining the condition to those around you, giving yourself grace when words don't come, and finding humor in playing charades or 'give us a clue' with loved ones rather than withdrawing from conversation altogether.

Hi, my fibro fog is horrible and I have a terrible time remembering things short term. I have tried to do research but the most I am coming up with is to be sure to exercise your brain daily by reading and playing memory games. These can be found on most tablets and smart phones. I don't drive much a y more do to it because I just dont trust my reaction time a y more. Hope you find your answers.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, i was wondering what fibro fog meant, i thought me not remembering things and knowing a word and not being able to think of it was because of my meds....it makes sense now, it drives me crazy.....i will also be having a conversation and suddenly cant think what i was going to say next....is that part of it too?

If you have a smart phone you can get a notepad and write a note on it as soon as you need to. I have a kindle but you could do the same thing with any kind of kindle or tablet type device

When I'm having a "fibro fog" day and I have to go to a meeting or someplace where I'm expected to hold a conversation it's very difficult. I try to put on an act or make excuses for not remembering words or losing my place in the middle of reading a report. Afterwards I'll ask someone, "did I sound completely stupid" and it's always, "no you were fine". It's like your brain has a slight covering of vaseline over it making every thought and word struggle to get past it. Ugh...hate it!!! I exercise my brain daily by doing word find games, crosswords, even candy crush!
