Contact your countyโ€™s Department of Social Services. There are ambulatory services here in NY State provided via Medicaid Transportation. Itโ€™s online as Medanswering.com. They have phone listings for the entire state of NY.
Itโ€™s how one of our tenants in my building gets to their appointments. I use the wheelchair van or Medicaid (regular type car) to get to mine.

As you are now in Fl, what options do you see for appointments?

1) Have you been able to get anyone or an organization to advocate for you in your new town and surroundings?

2) Are you able to take advantage of online appointments?

3) Can you sign up for a handicap mobile van which will take you to appointments and bring you home?

4) How many appointments do you have and which are necessary and essential as opposed to just scheduled appointments.

What you're feeling is completely valid, and so many others with fibromyalgia share this exact struggle. The exhaustion, the faintness, the fear โ€” it's real, and it's a lot to carry. You are not alone in this.

When getting to appointments feels impossible, here are some options that may help:

- Telehealth visits โ€” Many doctors now offer phone or video appointments, which can be a lifesaver on bedridden days
- Ask someone to advocate for you โ€” A trusted person can call your doctor's office to explain your situation and request accommodations
- Request home visits โ€” Some healthcare providers offer home visits for patients who cannot travel
- Prepare ahead โ€” Keep a running list of symptoms and questions on your phone so that when you do connect with a doctor, you make the most of it The faintness and feeling like you might collapse when upright is something worth specifically mentioning to your doctor โ€” it's a symptom that can be addressed and managed.

Most importantly, if you're feeling scared and like you want to escape your own body, please reach out to a crisis support line. That level of distress deserves immediate, compassionate attention. You matter. ๐Ÿ’™
