I have been asked to come off my naproxen after I have been taking it for 17 years. I am now in more pain and feel more exhausted because of it. If it continues what would you suggest I do? I'm stuck as to what I can do at this point. Xx

Members rallied around someone who was taken off naproxen cold turkey after 17 years, sharing frustration over doctors removing helpful medications without offering alternatives or tapering plans. Several members suggested seeking a different doctor, asking for a referral to a rheumatologist, and exploring alternatives like Tylenol Arthritis, Mobic, CBD, Epsom salt baths, and infrared heat pads. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy, keeping a pain journal, and speaking up loudly because staying silent often means getting no help.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I didn't get a choice I was just told I was coming off them. I've just come out of a very intense 3 day flare up. It doesn't sound long but I was in tears with the pain. I've never felt pain like it. I'm going to give it more time and keep a record of what's going on and go back to him to show him what's happening. Thanks everyone for your support I really appreciate it xxxxxx

I appreciate all of you and your advice. I think I'm going to go and see a different doctor and find out what they think of it all. I thought he would take me off them slowly and not just cold turkey. I understand that naproxen is not good for your stomach but I've had no problems so far. After 17 years I've still had no issues with it. I need to stop having so much faith in my doctor and move on. He is no way equipped with the knowledge of how to handle my fibromyalgia and other issues that affect it. Time to move on. Thanks again all of you, much love to you all xxx

You have a choice. You can ask your GP for an alternative pain killer. They can’t just leave you living in pain. Tell them how it’s affected you and made you worse. No one should live in relievable pain. It’s bad enough having fibromyalgia. You need to listen t9 you and think about what you want and need that can be helped. Then seek that help and get it sorted. In my home town there’s a saying.
“Quiet bairns get now’t” which basically means the quiet child gets nothing. If you don’t speak up how can they help you?

I'm praying for you love.. That hurts when the doctor takes away something that seems that it's been helping for a long time. Try CBD... It helped me before. But everyone body responds different to things. So it's worth trying.. I pray you get some relief. Have a blessed Tuesday!
