I admit, I'm ambivalent about our options for pain relief. I think it's more about the drug crisis, at least in the states. It's even hard for cancer patients to get opioids now. For myself, I build up tolerance quickly and don't enjoy losing clarity, so I figure it's all for the best. 💜

This is only from what I have read not from a in person Dr. but from the readings it Sounds like gabapentin is considered controversial now too. Have any of you been weened off of this for this reason? They have many people on it but now are finding there are long term negative side effects. So it sounds like they will be possibly taking people off of it. Lyrica being quite the same I don’t know what they will do with it. Has anyone heard anything about having lyric being removed from being used?

FibronoI agree with you. Years ago they used to give people things and no one became addicted. For example when I was a child they would give you cough medicine with codeine in it. I didn't get addicted. My dad too was given cough medicine with codeine he didn't get addicted. I know they are trying to protect people but it is sad that people have to suffer when they would not have to if they could be given the proper medication. People don't become addicted unless they have an addictive personality. If they drink smoke or Gamble. Then they are more likely to abuse medications.

Thanks for the clarification fibrono. Clarification from the healthcare industry would be most helpful as well. The hard thing to understand is why get people hooked on those addicting medications and then take then away only to expect patients to find comparable alternatives that may not be so forthcoming. I've seen and had experience with this in my early clinical background and it's tough for every one to rise above. I do thank you for bringing this up. It's a great conversation to have to spur on change. I think a lot needs to be adjusted so we all have a equal shot and the ability to improve. I wish you the very best 💟💜

Yes ambivalent thank you. I don’t want others or myself to be dependent from tolerance or become addicted, so I do understand it that. I do want everyone safe. I guess I just am referring to the fact they should say that instead of it not working for fibro. Unless there have been many many studies and it simply doesn’t work on fibro.
Lives have been ruined and people die. I don’t want any of that I feel so bad for what goes on. Just want something to help, I too would not like a loopy or disoriented feeling or to become addicted. Just want to take the edge off of pain. Even just once in a long while.
I have heard of others on them for many years everyday who feel like they do help, not fully but are helpful to them. If there is no opioids for end of life cancer, or painful cancer. That is awful. Has any one been on the opioid free drug that starts with a J.
for fibro or other chronic pains? Or after an operation? Curious to know how it went using it. I’ll ask my Dr about it I’m hoping it will be helpful. Sending thoughts of less pain in all the ways less fatigue and all other symptoms to everyone. Plus healthy sleep!
