Balance problems and falls are actually a well-known part of living with fibromyalgia, so you are definitely not alone in this. Balance problems and falls are actually a well-known part of living with fibromyalgia, so you are definitely not alone in this. One MyFibroTeam member shared that they had multiple falls in a six-month period, two of which required emergency room visits. It can feel embarrassing, but it's a real and recognised symptom.

Fibromyalgia can affect balance due to a combination of factors, including:

- Muscle weakness making it harder to stabilise yourself
- Fatigue which reduces coordination
- Cognitive fog affecting spatial awareness
- Nerve sensitivity disrupting signals between your body and brain

Since your falls are getting worse, it's really important to speak to your doctor soon. They may refer you to a physiotherapist who can work on balance and strength exercises tailored to fibromyalgia.

In the meantime, some practical steps that may help:

- Use a walking stick or cane for extra support
- Wear supportive, non-slip footwear
- Remove trip hazards at home like rugs or clutter
- Take your time when moving between positions

Please don't feel embarrassed — your safety matters most, and getting support is the right move. 💛

Thanks all I have a history of falling as part of my condition from birth. I am also hearing impaired i wear 2 hearing aids. the last few months I found my left ear which is my stronger ear tends to feel blocked all the time but itd clean when I clean it though feels like im underwater all the time with it. Even with the aid in I cant hear properly so my partner said to go to the gp once back home from holidays on friday see what happens. Im known to fall but not this much its gone daily and now im walking so far behind the rest of them I feel isolated from them all x

Hi, yes balance issues is part of fibromyalgia. You may want to get your blood pressure checked. I have postural hypertension and this causes balance issues as well as well as ear infections. Hoping you feel better soon

Merci.

Definitely have issues with balance. And it seems to be getting worse. I have had several falls, but not broken any bones.
I use a crutch now as I also had hip surgery recently. Its real challenge now to keep my balance.
