Is this not the one called a industrial solvent byproduct of wood. I may be wrong I shall check that in a mo. If it is the one I'm thinking about I'm thinking it was used for cystitis. Plus I think Deb has put up some good advice. I need to look it up now. I must admit I've not heard good stuff about it, if indeed it is the one I'm thinking of πŸ’πŸ₯€πŸŒΉπŸ˜˜

Hi Sue 🌹
I used it only briefly because it irritated my skin. I don't recall any pain relief. It has a reputation for causing garlic odor to come from the pores also, which kind of turned me off. I always want to try treatments at least once to see if they give any relief. I ran it by my doctor and he didn't have any reservations. πŸ’œ

You are so right about the contraindications with this(DMSO)DMSo) cured some witcured some with carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia.
Said that oneand Eliquis and BP meds and other meds if used for neuropathy or fibromyalgia.

The Eliquis and BP meds also rule out using Cod liver oil packs for anything such as fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy etc.

Same problem with PEA and Eliquis and BP meds.

I read a post on Substack that said it (DMSO) cured some cases of carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia.

Mentioned that in a lower dose that it might cause more pain with fibromyalgia.
Said that one should use 3 days on and one day off and that symptoms may get worse on the day off if one has fibromyalgia but then improve.

I saw it last night and thought of my daughter. Really think that research should be done before starting anything..

Will see if I can find the link. Took 10-15 minutes to read….

****Never in the article did it say to see if it can be used with the meds that you are taking.

So glad , Debra, that you posted your comments. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) cream isn't something that comes up in the current research or commonly discussed treatment options for fibromyalgia, so it's hard to speak to its effectiveness or safety for managing symptoms.

Some MyFibroTeam members have shared experiences with topical pain relief options, including prescription pain gels and various creams. Results tend to be mixed β€” what works well for one person may not work for another. If you're curious about trying DMSO cream, it's really worth having a conversation with your doctor first. This is especially important because:

- Some topical treatments can interact with medications
- Certain products can cause unexpected side effects
- Your doctor can help weigh whether it's a safe option for your specific situation

In the meantime, there are some over-the-counter topical options that have been discussed more widely for fibromyalgia-related pain and skin discomfort, such as cooling gels with menthol or aloe, or fragrance-free moisturizers.
