I read somewhere that fibro will cause this?
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers .When my dentist sent me to a perio specialist, I mentioned to her that I had chemotherapy for breast cancer in 2005 which the Oncologist did say the treatments could affect my teeth. Recently I told the specialist about the Fibromyalgia. She sort of looked at me like I had 2 Heads… last year I had 3 teeth removed and she’s still poking around my gums… it’s getting Expensive!!!
I had perfectly good healthy teeth went to dentist every 6 months even worked for a dentist for 10 years. Then used the special mouthwashes and flouride toothpastes even hand sealants on all my molars. Then in a 6 months period of time I started to get massive aggressive decay so far in 2 years I have lost 12 teeth and nursing about 4 more right now that need to come out. This is crazy. No one can do anything I will lose them all soon.
I’ve noticed in the last 18 mos since diagnosis that my upper gums have been receding. I’m upset. Doing All the flossing, water pic,and brushing religiously. I should draw it to the dentists attention…
I have lost two teeth and its because the fibro medications are making my mouth so dry all the time, cavities form more easily. I now have biotene mouth wash, special toothpaste and spray for my mouth when I'm out and about. Also drinking more water!
You're definitely not alone in this — tooth loss and breakage is something many MyFibroTeam members have experienced. One MyFibroTeam member shared that three of their teeth shattered and fell out after being diagnosed, noting how much it affected their confidence.
