Hi Sophia. This is a tough one I do agree that you are probably grieving your old life . I'm still going through it nearly 30 years after I first started receiving very odd symptoms. I didn't get properly diagnosed until I was many years into fibromyalgia. The hardest thing for me as well as the best thing for me was I was a former athlete. I played all the time. So it was hard for me to eventually accept I couldn't do it and recover anymore but I still had that former athlete in me that keeps trying and keeps hoping I can do better because I use to do it as an athlete. Now that I have aged I've learned to accept the limitations. It does not make it easier but you can channel yourself into something more suitable to your condition and you can still be full of joy and purpose.
You eventually find new ways and adapt. I morphed into mindfulness and that has helped. It allows me to be grateful for what was and what can still be. know that you always have the power to change things.

Take special care๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—โ˜ฏ๏ธ

Like it says above, keep a journal, that way you can see the patterns in what foods, activities, weather, etc.....or whatever causes your fibro to flare up and you will know what to avoid

I feel like this too. It is a really hopeless feeling. Iโ€™ve been trying to think of some short term goals and rewards to focus on to help my dopamine as so often it feels like Iโ€™m treading water and getting no where.
Iโ€™m bringing my physio and psychologist in on this too so they can help me come up with something realistic.
There are so many questions and so few answers sometimes. Focusing on what you CAN do and looking for silver linings in the situation helps with my mental health which drops into my boots at times.
Sending lots of love. Xxxxxxx

Hi Sophia I am so sorry that you feel so lost at the moment you are probably facing a grieving process for the old you and your old life we all go through it just pace yourself and see if you can get any help with raising your income because money problems always raise our stress levels and cause more pain over here we have benefits which can supplement our salary depending on how much you earn I don't know what type of work you do but I have just watched a video that talks about taking rests setting a timer and doing stretching or taking a short walk or just doing nothing and concentrating on your breathing then returning back to your work hope that helps โ™ฅ๏ธ

Feeling lost and overwhelmed when fibromyalgia takes over your life is something so many people with fibro deeply understand. The cycle of work-crash-work-crash leaves almost no room to just *be you*, and that's genuinely exhausting on every level โ€” physically and emotionally.

You are absolutely not alone in this feeling. As one MyFibroTeam member shared, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired" โ€” and that sentiment resonates with so many people living with fibro. Here are some things that may help you start reclaiming some space for yourself:

Managing energy and fatigue:
- Plan your day with rest built in โ€” not just crash recovery, but intentional rest
- Use ergonomic support (pillows, chairs) to reduce muscle fatigue during daily tasks
- Talk to your doctor about supplements that may help with sleep and daytime energy

Understanding your flares:
- Keep a simple journal or notes on your phone tracking what you did before a flare โ€” food, activity, stress, sleep
- Stress is a known trigger, so even small stress-reduction steps like short meditations or connecting with someone you trust can help

Organizing your care:
- Write down questions for your doctor as they come to you and bring that list to appointments
- Ask your healthcare team about a nutritionist or dietitian to support your energy levels through food Finding even tiny pockets of joy matters more than it might seem right now. Creative outlets, music, gentle hobbies โ€” these aren't luxuries, they're part of managing fibro life. As one MyFibroTeam member put it, these passions are what keep them "striving forward, battling conditions and overcoming the darkness."

Be kind to yourself. You're doing a lot more than it might feel like right now. ๐Ÿ’™
