Members connected over the spoon theory as a helpful way to understand and explain the limits of energy when living with chronic illness, with many finding it a relatable and accurate reflection of their daily experience. Several members broke down the concept in practical terms, explaining that each 'spoon' represents a unit of energy, and that tasks like bathing or dressing use varying amounts depending on the person and their condition that day. A recurring theme was how the theory helps with pacing, and one member even shared a fun alternative using Dungeons and Dragons spell slots for fellow nerds in the community.

Yes, this theory really works and makes me realize how to pace better

Thank you Linda, that was very kind of you! I still don’t get it. I think it because it involves math!🧼 đŸ€©

@A MyFibroTeam Member 💚 You’re just overthinking this. You have a certain amount of spoons=Time
You have to tailor it for yourself. Say, Dressing for the day is a small chore for you & your fibro. Maybe that’s 1 spoon for you.
For me it’s drudgery maybe 3 spoons for me.
You know yourself what is difficult for you. You think about your day and see what you can and cannot do that day. You have a limited amount of ‘spoons’ when you have used them up that day, week, etc you’re just out of spoons. You can’t do anything more. If you can look at it that way, you can better pace your day

I hope this helps-probably won’t. It’s one of the BEST ways to help yourself.( Maybe I just muddied the water
