I found the book, “The Highly Sensitive Person”, to be very helpful. The author did extensive research for her book.

Other book recommendations are : "The Empath's Survival Guide" and "Thriving as an Empath, 365 Days of Self-Care for Sensitive People" both by Judith Orloff, MD. It's one thing to learn about an issue, but what makes a difference is knowing what to do about it.

I just thought of an older show called Star Trek Next Generation. Deanna Troi was a character. She served as an diplomatic officer.
She was half human (her father). Her mother was from another planet of what they called Betazoids. Betazoids were all empaths.
Her character always resonated with me. I often feel like I'm from another planet.
Call me crazy, but I do!!!
