I’m so sorry friend. That’s awful.
I have an assortment of earplugs, I find they help when it comes to a lot of noise or talking.
I’m most fond of flares, myself. They are the only ones that don’t make me feel like I’m in a long tunnel.
Other than that- deep breathing and grounding exercises can help.
I say learn about as many methods and ways as possible!
I hope you can find something’s that work for you. 💛

How can you manage sensory overload that triggers nerve pain and emotional responses?
Sensory overload can be incredibly challenging with fibromyalgia, especially in loud environments. Here are some strategies that may help:
Immediate relief during overload:
* Step away to a quieter space when possible
* Practice slow breathing - inhale through your nose for three counts, exhale through your mouth
* Use noise-canceling headphones or earplugs if your workplace allows
* Close your eyes briefly to reduce visual stimulation
Preventive strategies:
* Keep your environment dark and quiet when you can control it
* Meditation can help "refresh" your overstimulated brain
* Establish a calming routine before potentially overwhelming situations
Workplace accommodations:
Consider discussing reasonable accommodations with your employer, such as advance notice of loud events or permission to step out when needed.
A MyFibroTeam member shared that working in a dark room with dim lighting helps them stay well and reduce flares. Finding what works for your specific triggers is key.
Remember, your body's response to sensory overload is real and valid. Taking steps to protect yourself isn't weakness - it's smart management of your condition.

Not everyone finds them helpful. But they help me a lot.
Hope they help you too. They make so many different kinds now. 😵💫

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'll have to get some earplugs and spread them around my jacket pockets and purse. Thanks for the info.

I have an odd trigger when it comes to sensory overload. Every time I watch the jets fly over a parade or event I break out into all out sobbing. Just allowing myself to cry after things are again calm allows the overload to pass. I guess crying often helps me deal with all kinds of sensory overload.
