Do you experience vivid dreams where you shout or talk out loud in your sleep?

Yes, sleep disturbances like this can happen with fibromyalgia. Many people with fibromyalgia experience various sleep problems, including restless sleep, muscle twitches as they're falling asleep, and disrupted sleep patterns.

Sleep issues are extremely common with fibromyalgia—studies show at least 9 in 10 people living with the condition experience poor sleep or sleep disorders. These aren't just reactions to pain; they're considered a core feature of fibromyalgia itself.

Some specific sleep-related issues that can occur include:
- Restless legs syndrome (a strong urge to move your legs at night)
- Muscle twitches or movements during sleep
- Frequent waking throughout the night
- Light or non-restorative sleep

If your vivid dreams and nighttime vocalizations are disrupting your sleep or your family's sleep, it's worth mentioning to your healthcare provider. They might recommend a sleep study with a sleep specialist to better understand what's happening during your sleep and find ways to help you rest more peacefully.

I wonder if we’re all on the same medication and that medication is causing these dreams? I do the same thing, Christine.

I’ve been doing that a lot lately. But I normally wake up laughing or finishing the sentence that I was saying in my sleep. Lol.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I wondered that for a while, but I’ve switched meds a couple of times and the dreams persist. I have been on some type of anxiety meds the whole time and the dreams do seem more vivid with those. I’m currently on Venlafaxine and take Methocarbamol (muscle relaxer) to help with sleep and pain.
