Members enthusiastically supported someone preparing to see a pain management doctor, with the most consistent advice being to write down everything beforehand, including what's working and what isn't, so nothing important gets forgotten during the appointment. Several members shared their own experiences with gabapentin tolerance, describing how their bodies became accustomed to the medication over time and prompting them to explore alternatives like Lyrica or Convulex, especially when managing overlapping conditions such as migraines or vertigo. A recurring theme was the importance of clear communication with doctors, self-advocacy, and the community's ability to find humor and connection even while navigating chronic pain.

I have suffered with fibromyaliga for over 40 yrs but finally got a diagnosis about 15 yrs ago. I take Gabapentin 4x a day for the last 5 yrs. I think it's finally time to look to something else because my body is so used to it that it's not really working now.

Kick him really hard in the leg and ask if it hurts, Then poke him in the eye and ask if he can see ok. Then talk none stop and ask if he is slightly fatigued.
Take ice cubes pop them down his shirt first.
I wish you well chick, on a serious note, Write everything down you want to speak about. So you don't forget.
I don't go anymore it must have been the ice πŸ˜‚πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜

Just make a list before you go. Ie what’s working and doesn’t, a pain doctor should be a good thing!
