Members opened up about the question of childhood trauma, with many sharing deeply painful experiences including parental abuse, neglect, loss of a parent, sexual abuse, and witnessing violence, often describing how these experiences shaped their later lives and relationships. Several members offered compassionate support to one another, expressing gratitude for found families like caring partners' parents or friends who treated them with the love their own families could not provide. A recurring theme was the difficult journey toward forgiveness and self-protection, with members acknowledging that while letting go of hate is important for healing, it doesn't erase the lasting impact of trauma or the ongoing challenge of managing its effects on mental and physical health.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have a half brother, but we don't talk. I wish I had a sibling that I had a good relationship with. Ugh! Families are hard.

@A MyFibroTeam Member so sorry you went through all that! Its really not easy I know from experience! I don't speak to my dad he cut me out of his life over 15 years ago I think for no reason I done nothing wrong! My relationship with my mum is strained. She is not loving or caring and has 0% empathy recently our relationship got slightly better but now there are issues because of my sister my sisters butting into our relationship when I never see my sister so she how no idea what's going on! She said i am asking mum to do too much for me physically because my mums backs been bad recently. All we do is go food shopping once a week 1 hour we both do our shopping! She also takes me to some medical appointments if they are at a time that i can't get a taxi normally after schools get out. So now I have told my mum she no longer has to take me shopping and I will cancel my doctors appointment and she no longer has to do a thing for me! My sister used to be a good support to me when she wasn't speaking to my mum for a few years now I barely speak to my sister she never ever asks if I am ok. She come to see me a few Sundays ago only because my mum decided to tell her I am lonely. From now on I will leave them to get on with it i am done! I told my sister i have been suffering badly with my mental health and she just said we all problems I just wanted a bit of support when she was depressed I messaged her everyday! Familys we are sometimes better off without them!
